TCP: The Proposal

Posted by acmomcee | Uncategorized | Monday 15 March 2010 4:43 pm
This week’s theme in Tuesday Couch Potatoes is “Wedding Movies” and because I soooo love Sandra Bullock, I’ll chose The Proposal, which I found so funny. It also shows something about family-ties which made me love the movie even more.

I was not able to post an entry last week, but I just want to say that the movie that disappointed me was also of Sandra Bullock’s and it’s called, The Lake House. This is the only Sandra Bullock movie that I didn’t find nice among the few I just watched. I don’t know if it’s really not so nice or it’s just me disliking it because of the deep twist and I hate to think how the hell they were able to meet at the same time… LOL!

Oh well, I know there are still a lot of Sandra’s movies that I have to marathon in one whole straight week. =) I’m a Sharonian, but internationally, I’m “Sandranian”.. hahaha!!!

In New York, Margaret Tate is a successful self-made chief-editor of the Ruick & Hunt Publishing and loathed by her coworkers. Margaret lost her parents when she was sixteen and is tough with the employees of the office. Her executive assistant and aspirant editor Andrew Paxton has been working with her for three years without any recognition. When Margaret has problems with the immigration due to an expired visa and is threatened with deportation, she blackmails Andrew to agree to marry her. In return, he would be promoted to editor and she would publish his book. Meanwhile, the skeptical clerk of the immigration department Mr. Gilbertson schedules an interview with Margaret and Andrew after the weekend. The couple travels to Sitka, Alaska, to celebrate the ninetieth birthday of Andrew’s grandmother and Margaret is welcomed by his warming family. Over the weekend, she grows closer to Andrew’s family who ask her to marry Andrew in their barn, a family tradition in the Paxton family. And the tension increases when Mr. Gilbertson appears out of the blue in Sitka promising to charge Andrew for fraud. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - IMDB

I found this movie funny and nice. Andrew didn’t even say a word about his family. He was so humble not to mention that his family was so rich and even said that it’s not his, but his parents. Andrew’s family was so close that he doesn’t want to disappoint any of them. Margaret’s heart softened as she lives with Andrew’s family and at the end, just admitting about the pretentious acts even though it means losing her career is one brave act, for me. It’s not the nicest movie ever, but it’s the most recent wedding movie I watched and simply because, it starred Sandra Bullock. =)

Judy Ann Santos, Now One of Us!

I don’t know why I feel extra happy when I learned about the news that Juday is now pregnant. I just feel that she’s a really nice and humble person and I have faith during those times that they were still waiting that God will grant their prayers soon.

I enjoyed watching their recent show “George & Cecil” and I thought Juday was already pregnant then. I’m not an avid fan of Juday, but I do like her not as an actress, but as a person. She’s for me, one of the few actresses who are NOT flying high on stardom. I never heard her lift herself up despite everything she already have. I am not related to her or anything, but I am proud to what she has become. And for me, she deserves everything she has now. I’m sure she’ll be one of those dedicated moms who is just happy to be called – MOM! Oh, she’s now One of Us!!! Welcome to the mommyhood, Juday…

My Take on Gutierrez’s Vs. Aquino’s Issue

Posted by acmomcee | Celebrities,Philippine Showbiz,Uncategorized | Tuesday 9 March 2010 6:29 pm
Oh well, I’m sure almost everyone already knows about this issue. I was able to watch The Buzz last Sunday and was really shocked when Ruffa walked-out. I knew then that that act will surely make a noise in Philippine Showbusiness.
Right at the start of the show, I have felt a tension already. I knew then that the hugging part was some kind of a “plastic”. Then as the show continues, more tension arose between the two. On the Angelica/Derek issue, Kris rebutted on Ruffa’s statement. Another issue that they were supposed to talk about was the John Prats and John Lloyd Cruz issue where Kris’s side is obviously on John Prats’s, while Ruffa was a bit awkward because of John Lloyd’s name (which I believe they really had ‘something’ before).
Kris told Ruffa, “Ruffa, aminin mo, ibang level ang saya dito.” which made Ruffa emotional and cried. Just before they cued for a  commercial, Ruffa stood up and walked away from the set and this was seen by everyone. When this happened, I’m sure that the “Monster Mom” will surely butt in and she did! In her interview with Showbiz Central, she said that people shouldn’t vote for Noynoy since now that he hasn’t won the position yet, his sister Kris is already arrogant, more so when he won.
On this whole issue, I would agree with Jobert Sucaldito’s statement on TV Patrol that Anabelle Rama’s reaction as a mother is understandable, but if Kris Aquino’s statement will be the only basis, then he believes that it isn’t fair since he can’t see anything harmful whatsoever on what Kris has said.

How To Get Washboard Abs Fast

Posted by acmomcee | Uncategorized | Thursday 4 March 2010 1:30 pm

It’s summer time once again and hitting the beach is probably one of the most enjoyable and important activity one cannot allow to pass. It’s when people show off their hard-earned sexy bodies through their chosen exercise and diet. But do you ever think how they were able to achieve those perfect curves and really impressive abs? Abs is sexy and that cannot be denied, and how to achieve that washboard abs fast a.k.a six-pack is the question personal trainers are being asked.
Washboard abs actually consists of sections called upper, lower and mid-section. One big misconception however is that people think of working on each of these sections separately. You have to understand that these muscles are not divisible and working on the so-called six pack means working on the sections together.
Together with the work out you are planning on doing comes a good and proper eating habit. The diet you choose is vital so you have to keep in mind that the foods you take contributes to the kind of abs you want to obtain. The more fats you take, the more it is to cover the muscles of your abdomen. So keep in mind that there are two factors that come together in achieving the ideal abs and they are proper diet and appropriate exercise.
While knowing that different sections are not contracted separately when working out, you should consider that there are however different exercises for each of them. Contrasting statements I know, but there are just exercises that focuses on a certain part while still helping the others to contract.
Another important thing to keep in mind is to modify the traditional methods of training that you were used to. This muscle building isn’t about how much exercise you dedicate every time or how much burn you feel, but it is actually about working on as much fibers as possible. Have you ever think what benefits can a stability exercise ball do for you? Well the truth is, it actually decreases your balance making your crunches works faster than doing them on a well-balanced position, like the floor. These exercise balls can also be used in common exercises such as push-ups. Try placing it either under your arms or feet while you do your usual push-ups.
There is however exception in using those exercise balls and that is when you are lifting very heavy weights as you don’t want to decrease your stability at these points.
With these guidelines, I believe you are on the right track in achieving the ideal washboard abs you’ve been wanting for long.

Freaky Friday – Tuesday Couch Potatoes

Posted by acmomcee | Meme,Movies | Wednesday 3 March 2010 2:04 pm
Oh, I’m not a big fan of movies, but I want to be! That’s why I joined TCP. LOL. I know I will learn so much from them and from my co-couchers most specially.

So for this week’s theme “School is Fun”, my pick’s Freaky Friday. It’s only a day in high school and a mom was able to see how much different it is from then and now.

Here’s the movie synopsis from tribute.ca:

Dr. Tess Coleman (Curtis) and her 15-year-old daughter, Anna (Lohan), are not getting along. They don’t see eye-to-eye on clothes, hair, music, and certainly not in each other’s taste in men. One evening, their disagreements reach a fever pitch — Anna is incensed that her mother doesn’t support her musical aspirations and Tess, a widow about to remarry, can’t see why Anna won’t give her fiancé (Harmon) a break. Everything changes when two identical Chinese fortune cookies cause a little mystic mayhem. The next morning, their Friday gets freaky when Tess and Anna find themselves inside the other’s bodies. As they literally walk a mile in each other’s shoes, they gain a little newfound respect for the other’s point of view. But with Tess’s wedding coming on Saturday, the two have to find a way to switch back — and fast.

While watching the movie, I’m torn between both being a parent and a daughter. I can’t imagine myself being the mom who doesn’t understand my own daughter because we got that so called “generation gap”. Indeed highschool days and age is fun, but parents have to be understanding of what teenagers are going through. And the same goes with the kids.
