TCP: The Proposal

This week’s theme in Tuesday Couch Potatoes is “Wedding Movies” and because I soooo love Sandra Bullock, I’ll chose The Proposal, which I found so funny. It also shows something about family-ties which made me love the movie even more.

I was not able to post an entry last week, but I just want to say that the movie that disappointed me was also of Sandra Bullock’s and it’s called, The Lake House. This is the only Sandra Bullock movie that I didn’t find nice among the few I just watched. I don’t know if it’s really not so nice or it’s just me disliking it because of the deep twist and I hate to think how the hell they were able to meet at the same time… LOL!

Oh well, I know there are still a lot of Sandra’s movies that I have to marathon in one whole straight week. =) I’m a Sharonian, but internationally, I’m “Sandranian”.. hahaha!!!

In New York, Margaret Tate is a successful self-made chief-editor of the Ruick & Hunt Publishing and loathed by her coworkers. Margaret lost her parents when she was sixteen and is tough with the employees of the office. Her executive assistant and aspirant editor Andrew Paxton has been working with her for three years without any recognition. When Margaret has problems with the immigration due to an expired visa and is threatened with deportation, she blackmails Andrew to agree to marry her. In return, he would be promoted to editor and she would publish his book. Meanwhile, the skeptical clerk of the immigration department Mr. Gilbertson schedules an interview with Margaret and Andrew after the weekend. The couple travels to Sitka, Alaska, to celebrate the ninetieth birthday of Andrew’s grandmother and Margaret is welcomed by his warming family. Over the weekend, she grows closer to Andrew’s family who ask her to marry Andrew in their barn, a family tradition in the Paxton family. And the tension increases when Mr. Gilbertson appears out of the blue in Sitka promising to charge Andrew for fraud. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - IMDB

I found this movie funny and nice. Andrew didn’t even say a word about his family. He was so humble not to mention that his family was so rich and even said that it’s not his, but his parents. Andrew’s family was so close that he doesn’t want to disappoint any of them. Margaret’s heart softened as she lives with Andrew’s family and at the end, just admitting about the pretentious acts even though it means losing her career is one brave act, for me. It’s not the nicest movie ever, but it’s the most recent wedding movie I watched and simply because, it starred Sandra Bullock. =)

Judy Ann Santos, Now One of Us!

I don’t know why I feel extra happy when I learned about the news that Juday is now pregnant. I just feel that she’s a really nice and humble person and I have faith during those times that they were still waiting that God will grant their prayers soon.

I enjoyed watching their recent show “George & Cecil” and I thought Juday was already pregnant then. I’m not an avid fan of Juday, but I do like her not as an actress, but as a person. She’s for me, one of the few actresses who are NOT flying high on stardom. I never heard her lift herself up despite everything she already have. I am not related to her or anything, but I am proud to what she has become. And for me, she deserves everything she has now. I’m sure she’ll be one of those dedicated moms who is just happy to be called – MOM! Oh, she’s now One of Us!!! Welcome to the mommyhood, Juday…

My Take on Gutierrez’s Vs. Aquino’s Issue

Oh well, I’m sure almost everyone already knows about this issue. I was able to watch The Buzz last Sunday and was really shocked when Ruffa walked-out. I knew then that that act will surely make a noise in Philippine Showbusiness.
Right at the start of the show, I have felt a tension already. I knew then that the hugging part was some kind of a “plastic”. Then as the show continues, more tension arose between the two. On the Angelica/Derek issue, Kris rebutted on Ruffa’s statement. Another issue that they were supposed to talk about was the John Prats and John Lloyd Cruz issue where Kris’s side is obviously on John Prats’s, while Ruffa was a bit awkward because of John Lloyd’s name (which I believe they really had ‘something’ before).
Kris told Ruffa, “Ruffa, aminin mo, ibang level ang saya dito.” which made Ruffa emotional and cried. Just before they cued for a  commercial, Ruffa stood up and walked away from the set and this was seen by everyone. When this happened, I’m sure that the “Monster Mom” will surely butt in and she did! In her interview with Showbiz Central, she said that people shouldn’t vote for Noynoy since now that he hasn’t won the position yet, his sister Kris is already arrogant, more so when he won.
On this whole issue, I would agree with Jobert Sucaldito’s statement on TV Patrol that Anabelle Rama’s reaction as a mother is understandable, but if Kris Aquino’s statement will be the only basis, then he believes that it isn’t fair since he can’t see anything harmful whatsoever on what Kris has said.
