TCP: Dinosaur

Aladar, Neera, Kron, Bruton, Emma, Plio, Zini, Suri, Eema are only some of the names that are printed in my head, because this movie is being played a number of times a day. We watched it the first time when we rented the DVD and since then, my Cheeky Munchkin can no longer be stopped from watching it. We can’t find a DVD so we seached it on YouTube and good thing it’s there! Yes, the full movie is there! This doesn’t mean though that we won’t be buyinga DVD anymore, because my dinosaur girl will surely insist. Well, I would agree that this is one of the nicest Disney films I’ve ever seen and so I can’t really blame my daughter.

Alyssa is so fascinated with dinosaurs and it all started when she watched this and she was only 3 years old then. Now she’s 4 1/5 and that didn’t change a bit. In fact, she’ll get hold of any dinosaur toy, soft or hard, whenever she gets the chance to do so. So what does this Dinosaur film all about?

It’s about a dinosaur egg that has travelled to different places and finally came to the land of the lemurs. The lemurs adopted the dinosaur and named him Aladar. They taught him how not to like meat and they all considered each other a family. Then the what has been known as a “big bang theory” where a meteor shower hits the earth, they have no choice but to leave their land and go somewhere they never knew of. That was the only time when Aldar saw others who look like himself. The other dinosaurs thought he’s just normal and so he’s been welcomed to join the clan led by Kron and Bruton. They travelled all together and try to reach the nesting grounds, but it’s not going to be easy. So a lot of trials have been encountered along the way and because the leaders don’t care about everyone, Aladar voiced out what he thought was best. He taught the others how to protect one another as a group so they can battle all the carnotaurus that’s been trying to kill them.

It’s a film that teaches kids how to love one another because each and everyone is important. It also teaches kids how to listen to other’s opinions and not all the time what they thought is right. It’s a film worth watching by every kids and as a mom, I know and I believe that these are some simple ways for us to teach our children good manners.

TCP: The Proposal

This week’s theme in Tuesday Couch Potatoes is “Wedding Movies” and because I soooo love Sandra Bullock, I’ll chose The Proposal, which I found so funny. It also shows something about family-ties which made me love the movie even more.

I was not able to post an entry last week, but I just want to say that the movie that disappointed me was also of Sandra Bullock’s and it’s called, The Lake House. This is the only Sandra Bullock movie that I didn’t find nice among the few I just watched. I don’t know if it’s really not so nice or it’s just me disliking it because of the deep twist and I hate to think how the hell they were able to meet at the same time… LOL!

Oh well, I know there are still a lot of Sandra’s movies that I have to marathon in one whole straight week. =) I’m a Sharonian, but internationally, I’m “Sandranian”.. hahaha!!!

In New York, Margaret Tate is a successful self-made chief-editor of the Ruick & Hunt Publishing and loathed by her coworkers. Margaret lost her parents when she was sixteen and is tough with the employees of the office. Her executive assistant and aspirant editor Andrew Paxton has been working with her for three years without any recognition. When Margaret has problems with the immigration due to an expired visa and is threatened with deportation, she blackmails Andrew to agree to marry her. In return, he would be promoted to editor and she would publish his book. Meanwhile, the skeptical clerk of the immigration department Mr. Gilbertson schedules an interview with Margaret and Andrew after the weekend. The couple travels to Sitka, Alaska, to celebrate the ninetieth birthday of Andrew’s grandmother and Margaret is welcomed by his warming family. Over the weekend, she grows closer to Andrew’s family who ask her to marry Andrew in their barn, a family tradition in the Paxton family. And the tension increases when Mr. Gilbertson appears out of the blue in Sitka promising to charge Andrew for fraud. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - IMDB

I found this movie funny and nice. Andrew didn’t even say a word about his family. He was so humble not to mention that his family was so rich and even said that it’s not his, but his parents. Andrew’s family was so close that he doesn’t want to disappoint any of them. Margaret’s heart softened as she lives with Andrew’s family and at the end, just admitting about the pretentious acts even though it means losing her career is one brave act, for me. It’s not the nicest movie ever, but it’s the most recent wedding movie I watched and simply because, it starred Sandra Bullock. =)

Kung Mawawala Ka Pa – Tuesday Couch Potatoes

This week’s theme is “For the Love of Family”. The first time I learned about the theme, I told myself that it’s gonna be very easy. I know I’ve watched so many films about family, but when I was about to write it already, everything slipped off my mind. I can’t even think of anything that’s about family. I even asked other moms I know to help me out on the right movie. Mommy Dhyne whom I’ve known since Friendster days first suggested My Sister’s Keeper, but I thought of preserving it for some other theme so she next suggested Cheaper by the Dozen. I would love to watch the movie, but because hubby had watched it before, he doesn’t want to watch it again – he’s not fond of repeating movies so am I so I said OK, I’ll just watch it some other time.
Then just now, the movie that I’ve watched a long long time ago came into my thoughts. The only cast that I can remember is Dawn Zulueta. I was having a hard time googling it because I am not even sure who her partner there was. I’ve asked my other friends, Mommy Iris and Tita Kaye, and finally found it after a couple of minutes. I can’t give up on this movie because its the perfect movie that I could think of on this week’s TCP.
Can’t find any image of the movie ;(
Kung Mawawala Ka Pa starring Dawn Zulueta, Christopher de Leon and the then child actress, Sarah Jane Abad was about a family who was tested and survived. The Palma family was full of love and happiness, but the husband was greedy of popularity and politics. He wants to have a name of his own whom the town people will look up to. This is one of the reasons why the family started to shake because of lack of time and attention to one other. Then another reason was the other woman. The couple decided to separate ways, but they found out that their daughter, Charina (Sarah Jane Abad) was sick of leukemia. For the sake of the child, they chose to stay together. They did everything to make their daughter happy. When the daughter asked for a birthday party sooner than the actual because she knows she’ll no longer last that long, they gave it and made the ordinary day Charina’s birthday. They did the same for Christmas. They decorated the whole house just like it’s real Christmas day and exchanged gifts. As the couple strive to extend their daughter’s life, least they knew that it’s their relationship which they are gaining back. Charina passed away peacefully while they were boating in the lake near their house. She left her parents, but was able to make their family intact. They were given another child and as they promised, they will visit the lake every year to celebrate with their eldest who’s then an angel in heaven.
This movie is indeed a tearjerker. I can’t help but think of my family as I recall the movie. I hope and pray that when God try to test us, He’ll not let anyone of us go while striving to make this family whole.
It’s fun in Tuesday Couch Potatoes, so what are you waiting for? Hop on and join us!
