My Little Rubbish Guard
My sweet Alyssa has been our rubbish guard for quite some time now. She is our recycle girl at home and it’s makes me feel proud that she knows how to dispose different kinds of rubbish properly. You can actually ask her to enumerate recycable materials and she will answer – tin cans, papers, cereal boxes, tissue rolls, water bottles, softdrink bottles, and anything with 3 arrows drawing.
She checks our bins from time to time to see if we are segregating them properly. When we are outside and she sees cans, papers, bottles or anything she knows are recycable, she always say, “uh uh… Mum, where should it go? Why do people throw their rubbish on the road?” And all I can say is, “Because Anak, there really are people who doesn’t care. We are lucky that we know the right way to throw our rubbish.”
It’s been proven time and again – kids know better than adults – while us, adults, can do so much to save mother earth.
In hubby’s office, all pencils are made of recycled papers and they use document imaging instead of using a lot of papers. I believe most companies now are practicing paper-less conversations and file transfers. At the end of their emails, they give suggestion of not printing emails at all to save from paper. Simple things like these surely counts.
Let’s protect our surroundings. It’s for us – given by God to enjoy and care for.
